A Worcester football club's new women's team has got off to a flying start in their inaugural season.

Nunnery Wood FC United women are now registered with the Midwest Counties Female Football League in tier seven, with the aim of climbing up the football pyramid over the next few years.

The club wants the younger girl’s teams to provide a clear pathway for players who wish to continue into adult football.

Experienced coaches Neil Rayment and Steve Dallow are at the helm, working to bring the best out of the players.

The team recently tested their mettle in a match against Worcester United on Sunday, October 20.

After trailing 2-0 in the first half, they equalised to finish the match 2-2, before ultimately winning 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

The day was made even more special as players from the under-12 girl’s team at Pershore Town walked onto the pitch with the players.

The club has said it is keen to foster relationships with other clubs in the area and welcomes opportunities for more young teams to join them.

The club is also looking for additional sponsors to help cover monthly training costs and pitch hire.
