Droitwich Spa are eyeing a cup run as they make the 250-mile round trip to take on Holbeach United in the first round of the Isuzu FA Vase.

The Saltmen will play at Carter's Park in East Lincolnshire, for the first time on Saturday, October 19.

Manager Andy Crowther, who recently celebrated 100 wins at the helm, brings his team to the match with momentum on their side, having lost only once in the last 15 games across all competitions.

They have yet to lose to a step six side this season.

Captain James Lemon has resumed full training and is expected to play on Saturday, while Josh Hurdman will be monitored after missing Tuesday night's game due to illness.

Crowther should have a full squad to choose from for the game, except for the longer-term injuries to Niall Doherty, Sam Hurdman, and Cal Green.

The Saltmen are hoping to make it further than the second round of the FA Vase, something they have only achieved once before, in the 2019-20 season.

Holbeach, or The Tigers, have had several successful cup runs in previous seasons, but were relegated to step six in the 2021-22 season after finishing without a league win and a -115 goal difference.

Last season, they finished sixth, just outside the play-offs, and are hoping to improve on that this campaign.

They have not qualified for the second round of the FA Vase for six years.

Their form this season has been inconsistent, with only two wins from 10 home league games, one of which was a 3-0 victory last weekend against high-ranked Whitton United.

They were, however, knocked out of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup by Skegness Town on Wednesday night.

Players to watch for the Tigers include top scorer Ryan Cook, who has 10 goals in 16 games, and Jordan Keeble, who has scored two goals in the last two games.

The winner of the tie will qualify for the second round of the FA Vase, with a minimum of £1,100 up for grabs from the FA's prize fund.
