A former Nottingham Forest player has joined Worcester City Women FC as a first-team coach.

Lauren McMurchie, who also made outings for Glasgow City during her playing days, will join the FA Women's National League Division 1 Midlands club as a first-team coach to work alongside head coach Matt Jones, and coaches Jen Anslow and Matt Tally.

During her 10 years with Glasgow City, she won the Scottish Women’s Premier League 10 times and the Scottish Cup six times.

She also competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League from the age of 17.

Alongside her playing career, McMurchie has a Masters in sports coaching, a BA Honours in sports studies, a Football Business Fundamentals qualification from the Johan Cruyff Institute, and a UEFA C License.

Head coach Jones said: "Lauren’s track record speaks for itself.

"She has achieved so much as a player, and now, her ambition and expertise as a coach will be invaluable to us as we push for results in this new league.

"Her insights, particularly around injury prevention and athlete wellbeing, are a great addition to our coaching team."

McMurchie said: "I’m very pleased to be joining a female-owned club with great vision and values.

"I hope to bring my experience as a player into other aspects of the game and I look forward to supporting the players in all aspects of their journey."
