Worcester Wolves secured a double-winning weekend with an impressive victory over Big Sky Basketball.

This 81-59 triumph at the University of Worcester Arena in the National Cup on Sunday followed a 78-68 league win at Cardiff City the previous day.

The Wolves' weekend victories mean they now move on to the next round of the cup.

Wilfrid Santhe and new recruit James Davis were pivotal in the wins.

Santhe was top scorer with 21 points at Cardiff, and joint-top scored alongside Davis, with both contributing 18 points each and a double-double in the win against Big Sky.

Santhe provided 10 assists, and Davis grabbed 11 rebounds.

Wolves started strongly with an 18-18 opening quarter.

Santhe and Davis quickly found their rhythm, helping the team to a 36-32 lead at half-time.

After the interval Wolves' dominance continued, with Santhe's six third-quarter successes extending their lead to 58-46.

Davis rounded off his home debut with a steal and a two-handed slam through the hoop.

Worcester coach Dean Blake was pleased with his team's performance over the weekend.

He said: "It hasn’t been an easy weekend to contend with, but it was great to get back-to-back wins.

"James only came off the plane on Wednesday but handled it well and I’m glad he came up with a really good performance."

Wolves will hope to keep their unbeaten streak alive when they travel to face Bristol Basketball United on Saturday (October 12), before returning to the University of Worcester Arena on Saturday, October 19, to play against Teesside Lions.

Mr Blake added: "We’ll now take tomorrow off, but after that we’ll prepare to go hard again next week."
