The league features two age categories: over 50s and over 60s, with five teams in each group.

These teams represent eight clubs: Worcester City, Inkberrow WFC, Bishops Cleeve, Alcester Town, Droitwich Spa Veterans, Hindlip WFC, Age UK FC, and Evesham United.

The first season will see matches played once a month, typically on the third Sunday.

The community room and bar was open for the afternoon, welcoming anyone interested in the sport or wanting to support their team.

Walking football is gaining popularity in the UK, with over 70 per cent of players participating more than twice a week, and 85 per cent looking for more competitive games.

This variation of traditional football is designed for those wishing to stay active without the strain of running.

The rules are similar to standard football, but players must walk instead of run, which reduces injury risk and makes the sport accessible to people of various fitness levels and ages.

Matches are played with seven-a-side teams on smaller pitches with smaller goals.

Running and jogging are not allowed, and tackles and physical contact are minimised to prevent injuries.

The game emphasises skill, strategy, and teamwork rather than speed and physicality.

Walking football is known for promoting physical health, social interaction, and mental well-being, making it an ideal sport for older adults and those looking to maintain an active lifestyle.
