A young golfer has secured his first junior championship just 14 months after first picking up a club.
Fourteen-year-old Oliver Meyer, from Lulsley, near Knightwick, secured the Midland Challenge Junior title in the U14s category at the end of July - winning by six shots.
His dad Enver Meyer said: "The first time Oliver started golfing was May 2023, when he went to the driving range with some family.
"He has really developed his game since then and had some great coaches around him."
Oliver, who attends The Chantry School in Martley, has a coach at each of his 'home' golf clubs, including Jack Cullity at Bransford Golf Club and Russell Adams, who coaches at Gaudet Luce Golf Club in Droitwich.
Mr Adams said: "Ollie has worked really hard on all aspects of his game over the last 10 months or so, and he had only just started to play when he came to me.
"He has got natural ability, a good work and practice ethic, and a great attitude - he has been brilliant.
"He has a good family to support him too, which always helps."
Oliver's Midland Challenge win came after three gruelling rounds on July 28, 29 and 30 played at Whittington Heath Golf Club, Sutton Coldfield Golf Club, and Aston Golf Club.
Mr Meyer said: "He was excited to win, for sure. He was tied with the leader after day one, four shots ahead after day two, and had a six shot lead on day three.
"The goal right now is to enjoy and keeping improving, but his big dream ultimately is to make it as a professional."
Oliver is currently completing his first golf season as part of the Robert Rock Junior Tour, where he currently sits in second place in the Order of Merit with three rounds to go.
Mr Meyer said: "If he finishes the season in those top two spots, then he'll qualify for the Junior World Championship in July next year.
"I've never been a golfer, but the sport has become my passion now since Oliver took it up.
"He has been putting in the hours and has progressed really well since he started."
