Matt Richards won his first gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games as Great Britain defended their 4x200m freestyle relay title.
James Guy gave Team GB the lead after the first leg, with Tom Dean powering through in the last 50m of the second stint to keep Britain in the lead as Matt Richards took over.
Despite swimming in the 100m freestyle semi-final less than two hours earlier, Droitwich-born Richards' impressive third stint of 1:45.1 gave Duncan Scott a 0.5 second lead going into the final 200m of the relay.
Scott, who narrowly missed out on a podium place in the 200m freestyle race on Monday (July 29) opened up a huge lead over the Americans and Australians in the final stint, with Britain finishing with a time 6:59.43, 1.35 seconds ahead of the US in second place.
The victory is Richard's second medal in two days, after finishing second in Monday's 200m freestyle race.
