Matt Richards came within milliseconds of a gold medal in the Men’s 200m freestyle.
The swimmer, from Droitwich, has won his first solo Olympic medal after finishing second in the final tonight (Monday).
Richards was in the medal positions from the start, eventually taking the lead into the final 50 meters before being overtaken at the last second.
Romanian swimmer David Popovici entered the final as the favourite and lived up to expectations, winning the final with a time of 1:44.72.
The 21-year-old Brit finished with a time of 1:44.74, narrowly missing out on a second gold medal at the Olympics.
US swimmer Luke Hobson came third with a time of 1:44.79, while fellow Team GB swimmer Duncan Scott missed out on the podium with a time of 1:44.87.
