Team France has claimed the 2024 European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability.

The win at Golf Club Hösel saw France at the helm from the forefront, having led after the first and second rounds.

Entrants into the final day fourballs saw France with a notable 14-stroke advantage over rivals, the Netherlands and England.

Their consistent performance throughout the week left little room for a surprise upset on the final day, Saturday.

Two concluding scores of 75 (+4), showcasing a commanding presence in the fourballs, France closed with a total of +44, marking their first victory since 2017 by an undeniable 11 strokes.

This victory also marks their first in the evolved contest, which calls for teams to have at least one player from each of the four sports disability bands, and mandatorily include at least one male and one female player.

Meanwhile, the battle for second place was less predictable, with England and the Netherlands having entered the final day on equal footing.

England seemed set to clinch the silver, thanks to a 73 (+2) score from Aimi Bullock and Tony Lloyd, which incidentally was the week's high score.

However, birdies from Arthur Kostermans and Marcella Neggers of the Netherlands on the 13th and 14th holes momentarily swung the momentum in their favour.

Unfortunately, a double-bogey on the 16th hole for the Dutch pair shifted the lead back to England.

A final score of 73 (+2) from the Dutch duo met its match with consistent performances from the English fourballs, earning them second place and the silver medals with a score of +55.

The Netherlands, only two strokes behind, clung onto the bronze medal, rounding out the championship podium.
