Droitwich Spa have announced their first signing of the summer.

Matt Fusco, a 29-year-old midfielder or full back, has joined the Saltmen from Malmesbury Victoria.

Fusco made 38 appearances for Malmesbury last season, and helped them take second place in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 before winning in the play-off final.

He made 110 appearance for the club over three seasons, and found the back of the net seven times.

Prior to his stint with the Vics, he spent four seasons at Malvern Town, playing over 100 matches.

He has been a part of two successful promotions in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1, first with Malvern Town in 2020-21 and most recently with Malmesbury Victoria last campaign.

Fusco, excited about the move, said: "After speaking to Andy Crowther and knowing the aspirations that the club has for the future, I feel that with the experiences I've had and knowing what it takes for promotion from this League, I can really help to push the club and the lads on to get there in any way that I can.

"I've been really impressed with the facilities here; I can see the club is progressing in the right direction and everyone is on the same wavelength and I want to be a part of that."

Spa's manager Andy Crowther said: "Matt is a player who brings with him a lot of experience at this level and he will be a valuable member of the squad.

"He is versatile and has the great ability to play in many positions, he will bring his energy and experience to this ever evolving squad."
