The team and their fans headed to Mundy Playing Fields to play Thornbury needing just one more point to be crowned Premier Division champions.
They beat the Gloucestershire team 1-0 after Chris Knight smashed home a loose ball low past the keeper 35 minutes in.
It's been a long wait since 1979 when City secured the Southern League Premier Division title following a 3-0 win over Kettering Town at St George's Lane.
City's owner Simon Lancaster praised the club and fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, straight after the match saying: "Fantastic effort from Chris [Cornes, manager] the players, the volunteers and the fans."

The hosts had the first chance of the game within the first two minutes with a long-range effort which went comfortably over.
Defender Adam Mace was in the ref's book for a late challenge and minutes later a yellow card was issued to Thornbury's number eight for bringing down Elliott Hartley.
After finding space, Hartley almost got his revenge in the 19th minute with a shot which was blocked.
The 35th minute saw what Worcester were waiting for - their first goal - with Knight smashing it into the back of the net.
Though the second half did not deliver any more goals, there were some more chances for the City men.

A defensive error in the 48th minute saw the ball roll just wide of the net, dashing hopes of a second goal for City.
Shortly after, defender Knight's shot was cleared off the line before Hartley flicked a header onto Kyle Belmonte whose goal attempt went wide.
Dylan Hart flashed the ball across the face of goal before Logan Stoddart was called into action at the other end with a last-ditch challenge.
Thornbury weren't ready to throw in the towel, however, and came close to levelling in the 74th minute with a header from a corner.
They followed it up with a counter and drove forward but a shot from the edge of the box flew over in the 88th minute before Worcester's title celebrations began.
