THE Schools Championship 7s (TSC7s) will be played at Sixways Stadium for the first time this weekend.
The new Tournament will see 16 teams play throughout the day, featuring some of the very best School sides in the UK and local interest with RGS Worcester taking their place in the stellar line-up.
The tournament promises to be treat for all rugby fans - entry to the event is free - when schools travelling from across England and Wales come together to form one of the strongest fields assembled on the schools 7s circuit.
Sedbergh School from the north, Northampton School for Boys’ and RGS from the Midlands, Ipswich School from the East, Whitgift School and Wellington College from the South East, Millfield School, Clifton College, Hartpury College and Sir Thomas Rich’s School from the South West, and Llandovery College flying the Welsh flag.
The list of notable former pupils from the participating schools have produced over the years has some all time greats, and hall of famers from the likes of Sir Gareth Edwards, JPR Williams, Chris Robshaw, Mako Vunipola, Chris Oti (Millfield), Will Carling, Will Greenwood, Cameron Redpath, Bevan Rodd (Sedbergh), Courtney Lawes, Steve Thompson, Ollie Sleightholme (NSB), Danny Cipriani, Eliott Daly (Whitgift), James Haskell, Jamie Salmon (Wellington), Jonny May, Alex Cuthbert, Ross Moriarty, Louis Rees-Zammit (Hartpury), Alun Wyn Jones, Craig Quinnell, George North (Llandovery College).
The Group matches kick off at 9am, with the play-offs scheduled from 12.30.
Organisers hope the new tournament will capture the imagination of Worcester rugby community to watch and enjoy some exciting schools rugby and maybe spot some of the stars of the future.
