SEVERN Stars perfect start to the Netball Super League season continued at the weekend as they stormed past Team Bath in impressive fashion to record a 72-44 win on the road.
The Worcester-based franchise dominated the match from start to finish to take the win 44-72.
With a perfect record so far this season, the team sit first on goal difference, equal with Manchester Thunder on nine points. Head Coach, Jo Trip, said she was delighted with the win, the team’s third victory in a row.
"It was another fantastic win, another game with all players playing their part on and off the court, which is absolutely brilliant," she said.
"We weren’t as clinical as we have been in previous games. It was hot, the atmosphere was really electric, it was really loud. We were super-fast paced on court as well, so it’s just us finding that balance between being fast and then taking a pause and being really clinical with the ball as well.
"I’m really happy with another big win and maintaining that top end of the table which we’re really looking to do."
A solid start from Stars in the opening 15 minutes saw them draw away early to take an eight-goal lead, 10-18. Stars maintained their momentum into the second quarter and they extended that advantage by the half-time interval, 37-22 ahead.
The second half saw further defensive pressure from Stars, a franchise owned by the University of Worcester, leading to interceptions and conversions to goal, which helped to create an almost unassailable lead, 33-56.
Trip made some changes in the final quarter, bringing on Lefébre Rademan at goal attack, Ashleigh Dekker at centre and Bekah Airey at goal keeper, meaning all 12 players took to the court.
But despite the changes, the Stars would not be halted and in the end, they managed to record a convincing 28-point win.
Stars’ next home game at the University of Worcester Arena is against Manchester Thunder on March 8 at 7.30pm, but this match is now sold out.
