THREE goals in the final half an hour helped Worcester City eventually beat a stubborn 10-man Brimscombe & Thrupp to go top of the Hellenic League Premier.
An own-goal just after the hour mark provided the all-important opener for City, who had played against 10 men since the 24th minute after Jack Freeman was sent off for a swipe at Kirk Layton.
But having held on for a large period of the game, the own goal knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.
Liam Lockett then turned his defender inside and out before firing low past the keeper to double City's lead.
Izak Reid then made it three goals in ten minutes with a header to seal a seventh straight victory for Chris Cornes' men.
The result also meant that City rose to the top of the Hellenic Premier table after Corsham Town could only draw with Worcester Raiders at Sixways.
City have two games in hand still on Corsham, so could extend that lead when they play those games, but for now they sit top of the tree and continued to enhance their title credentials.
They are back in action on Tuesday when they make the trip to Gloucestershire to face Lydney Town (7.45 pm kick-off).
