MANAGER Chris Cornes says Worcester City "should be scoring more goals" despite his side's 3-1 win over Hereford Pegasus on Tuesday night in the Hellenic League Premier.
There was an element of frustration from the boss at full-time after watching his team fail to kill off their opponents earlier in the game.
"The frustrating part is the amount of chances we created and didn't finish," he said. "Not many teams that have played us this season could argue if the score had been 8,9,10 with the amount of chances we are creating.
"The keeper has made some outstanding saves but it is frustrating that we haven't scored more and there wasn't more daylight between us so we could have saved some legs and made some changes earlier on.
"But that's football. We were in total control and I think we almost needed to concede for us to go and finish the game off.
"It's a pleasing performance but really we should be scoring more goals."
City raced into a 2-0 lead after just nine minutes thanks to goals from Kyle Belmonte and Liam Lockett but the home team were unable to add a third until ten minutes from time with the score at 2-1 after Cawley Cox had pegged City back in the second-half.
Worcester had numerous chances throughout the game to increase their advantage but a lack of clinical edge in the final third and an outstanding performance from Pegasus keeper James Behan kept the visitors in the game.
And that is something Cornes is keen to see his side address. "When you are in control in a game for large parts like we were tonight, it can be difficult to keep that tempo and momentum.
"We create so many chances in games, we should be scoring more and that is something we need to make sure we correct in the big games.
"But I think in those matches against the better sides in this league, I think we will go up another gear and I know these lads can up their tempo more and those big matches I would not be concerned about that too much.
"We have these lulls in games which we need to look at but it can be hard when you are in such control so I cannot really knock the lads, they have been brilliant again and it's another win and three points so we're happy."
