FOUR junior boxers from Worcester City Amateur Boxing Club took home medals in the Barum Box Cup.
The boxing club sent William Doe, Reece Butler, Levi Smith and Jay Powell to compete in the Barum Box Cup, at Ilfracombe Holiday Park, between Friday, September 8 and Sunday, September 10.

Only two boxers were entered into Levi Smith and Jay Powell's weight categories, including the Worcester boxers themselves, which placed them both into a straight final.
William Doe faced Irish boxer Caoilite Jones from Armagh Down Boxing Club in a scrappy affair.
In an act of frustration in a clinch, Doe pushed Jones away which promoted a disqualification from the referee in the third round.
Reece Butler faced Jones' teammate Danny McManus, with Butler boxing well to secure a points decision and a place in the finals.
On the day of the final, Levi Smith faced Rainham ABC's Philip Baker Chambers, with Smith putting up a good show against his talented opponent. The decision came down to a split and was awarded to the Rainham boxer.
Reece Butler was next up against Callum Dan from Intense ABC. Butler put up a good fight, but lost to the better fighter on the day, with judges awarding the bout to Dan.
Jay Powell was last to fight against Francis Daly from Wirral CP Boxing Club. The Worcester boxer's stamina and determination were the two key factors that led him to victory and the gold medal from the judges.

"We came here with four boxers, and although William was disqualified, all the boys have walked away with medals and we couldn't be more happier. A bronze, two silvers and a gold.
