A TEENAGE racing champion is set to compete in a competition organised by a top F1 driver.

Charlie Edge, 14, from Droitwich, will be competing in the Daniel Ricciardo-sponsored DRS series for 2024 following his success in the 2023 N35 lightweights Daytona Championship.

He started racing with indoor karts in Halesowen when he was just 12 years old before progressing to outdoor karts at the Daytona Outdoor Go-Karting in Tamworth.

Charlie's father, Stephen Edge, said he was incredibly proud of his son's achievements and is looking forward to seeing him progress next year.

He said: "We are certainly proud of Charlie and have loved watching him and supporting him on his journey so far.

"The sport is certainly not cheap so I am also incredibly grateful to his sponsors as well who have been helping him follow his dream."

Throughout his winning season, he took 15 podium places helping him to seal the championship.

Mr Edge said: "As a result of his success we have had a lot of media companies and people involved in racing following his progress on social media.

"We took the decision to see how he could progress his racing to the next level and was luckily offered a space to compete in the Daniel Ricciardo Series which will begin in March 2024."
