WORCESTERSHIRE captain Brett D'Oliveira and all-rounder Logan van Beek rescued Worcestershire from an early collapse as their century stand kept the hosts in the game with Glamorgan in their crucial County Championship match at New Road.
Van Beek scored a first 50 on his red-ball debut for Worcestershire in a vital knock with D'Oliveira after the hosts had slipped to 111-6.
It was a poor start from the hosts, who lost Jake Libby (6), Azhar Ali (3) and Jack Haynes (1) early on in the innings.
Gareth Roderick and Adam Hose fought back from 33-3 with a 45-run partnership but both players fell after lunch, as well as Kashi Ali for 9, meaning the hosts were six wickets down.
But returning captain D'Oliveira and van Beek did manage to stabilise the innings, moving the score to 200-6 with a brilliant partnership of 92.
Van Beek reached his half-century just before tea, with 40 of those runs coming via 10 fours.
But he did not last much longer, out for 53 for the seventh wicket but another valuable partnership, this time between D'Oliveira and new loan signing Ben Allison - 64 runs - helped push the score further.
Allison was eventually bowled for 37 and Joe Leach and Dillon Pennington were both dismissed quickly as Worcestershire were bowled out for 284.
Glamorgan closed the day 3-0 after facing two overs.
