KIRK Layton came off the bench to score the winner as Worcester City came from behind to beat Westfields 2-1 in the FA Cup.
The centre half was brought on in the closing stages for striker Zaq Hussain and wowed the visiting crowd with a shot from the edge of the box to seal City's place in the first round of qualifying.
Westifelds had taken the lead through Joel Edwards as he scrambled the ball over the line just before the break.
Dylan Hart equalised with a header seven minutes into the second-half before Layton's late heroics handed City the most dramatic victory.
They now progress into the first round of qualifying and the draw will be released for the next round on Monday lunchtime.
It was a scrappy opening half with no less than eight yellow cards as both sides struggled to really take a grip of the game until five minutes before the break.
It was a goal that summed up the half as the ball bobbled around the City box before Joel Edwards managed to force the ball over the line.
Another chaotic sequence inside the visiting box almost provided another goal for Westfields in stoppage time but City somehow managed to keep it out and went into the interval a goal down.
But they came out firing in the second-half and were level in the 54th minute as Hart rose highest to send a looping header over the keeper and into the Westfield net.
There were half chances at both ends as the two sides searched for the winner, which eventually came from the unlikeliest of players.
Layton was brought on in the final 10 minutes of normal time after missing the last couple of games, most likely to sure the City defence up and potentially see the game out for a replay.
But the centre-half was having none of that and as the ball came out to him around 25 metres from goal, he curled the ball into the far corner to stun the home crowd and send the City fans home happy.
