Worcestershire's Pat brown to join Derbyshire at the end of the season

Brown's contract runs out this summer and he becomes the third player to depart New Road this season after the duo of Josh Tongue and Dillon Pennington confirmed their move to Nottinghamshire. 

24-year-old Brown has been with Worcestershire since he was 17 and studied at the University of Worcester, where he was presented with a Cricket Scholarship alongside a degree in Business Management.

Brown’s notable achievements include claiming 31 wickets in the Worcestershire Rapids’ 2018 Vitality Blast triumph and added a further 24 wickets this summer.

Following the Rapids finishing as runners-up in the 2019 Vitality Blast, Brown then went on to make his England debut that winter in the T20 side. He was also part of the 2017 County Championship Division Two winning side.

"I will be forever grateful to Worcestershire for providing me with the opportunities, from the age of 17, that have shaped me into the cricketer and person I am today," said Brown.

"There have been so many amazing times playing for Worcestershire throughout my seven years as a professional, an obvious highlight being the 2018 Vitality Blast triumph. 

"I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of my teammates, coaches, support staff and members for their unwavering support throughout my time at the club.

"It is with a heavy heart that I have taken the decision to leave, but New Road and Worcestershire has forever left its mark on me.

"I wish the club and everyone involved every success in the future."

Upon joining Derbyshire, he added: "I’m really excited to be joining Derbyshire and working in a new environment under a proven international coach, Mickey Arthur, who I know will get the best out of me as a player.

"Becoming a part of the project which is building at Derbyshire and looking to compete for trophies over the next three years appealed to me greatly.

"Having played at The Incora County Ground in this year’s Vitality Blast, I was enthused by the prospect of playing my home games here and making full use of the great facilities the ground has to offer in my pursuit of becoming the best cricketer I can be.
