REDDITCH United attacking midfielder and former Hull City youngster Max Sheaf has landed a big move to Scottish Premiership side Ross County.
The 23-year-old played in every game for Redditch in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring eight goals and registering 18 assists in the Southern League Premier Central.
His form has attracted the attention of numerous clubs and one of those is the Scottish Premiership side Ross County, who have signed him on a two-year deal.
Sheaf began his professional career at Hull City, before loan spells at Cheltenham Town and Torquay United. He was released by Hull at the end of 2020/21 and joined Gloucester City on a one-year deal.
Sheaf was signed by manager Matt Clarke for The Reds at the start of the 2022/23 season and instantly impressed, earning himself a one-year contract with the club in October, despite offers from clubs further up the pyramid.
With some stunning free kicks along the way, Sheaf enjoyed a stellar season for the club and he leaves with the best wishes of his now ex-manager.
"I’m really pleased for Max, he came in at a time where he had probably fallen out of love with football and when he came in, he was a breath of fresh air," said Clarke.
"He lit the place up with his goals, his freekicks, his assists, his football, and his attitude has been outstanding. He’s been very driven to get back into full-time football.
"I promised him that he’d be with us for one season, I said that if he comes with us and does well then by the end of the season he’ll realise his dream of being back in full-time football and he’s done exactly that.
"He’s done a great job for us and we’ve done an equally good job as we’ve given him a platform for him to play at a good level.
"He goes with our very best wishes and he’ll be someone we keep an eye on for the rest of his career. I’m very grateful I had the opportunity to work with Max for a season and he helped set high standards in training and in games.
"I’m really chuffed he’s got a move, not just to a full-time club, but a move to a team that are playing in the top level in Scotland. I think it’s a fantastic move for him."
