WORCESTERSHIRE wicket-keeper and club stalwart Ben Cox has moved into the top three of the all-time list of wicket-keeping dismissals in T20 cricket.
Cox, who is in his testimonial year, moved ahead of Middlesex's John Simpson and into third place when he caught Daryl Mitchell in the win over the Lancashire Lightning on Tuesday evening.
The 31-year-old keeper-batter is now the wicket-keeper with the most dismissals in T20 cricket that is still playing, with those above him, James Foster (Essex) and Phil Mustard (Durham and Gloucestershire), both retired.
It has taken Cox 141 games to reach 98 dismissals and he is on the verge of joining the 100-club ahead of the Rapids' games with Notts Outlaws (Thursday) and Birmingham Bears on Friday night at Edgbaston.
The former Bromsgrove School student made his debut in the competition in 2010 and 33 of his victims – more than a third – have been stumpings.
Last summer he moved past Mark Wallace (Glamorgan), Steve Davies (Worcestershire, Surrey and Somerset), Chris Read (Nottinghamshire) and Tim Ambrose (Sussex and Birmingham).
His best year in terms of dismissals came in 2018 when he helped the Rapids to win the title by earning the man of the match awards in both the semi-final and final.
Cox’s first T20 dismissal was Derbyshire’s Gregory Smith who was stumped off the bowling of James Cameron in an eight-wicket win at New Road.
