WORCESTER Warriors Women returned to league action in style on Saturday as they scored eight tries in a 48-7 win over DMP Sharks in their Allianz Premier 15s clash.
Carys' Cox crossed twice in the first-half, whilst Lydia Thompson, Siobhan McCarthy and Amelia Buckland-Hurry all crossed as the hosts opened up a healthy 29-0 lead at the break.
The visitors improved after the interval but Thompson, Meg Varley and Caity Mattinson added further points to the score before the away side dotted down for a consolation as time ran out.
The bonus-point victory was warmly received by a big crowd at Sixways and the comprehensive scoreline keeps Warriors in mid-table in sixth position.
After an eight-week break for the TikTok Women's Six Nations and Allianz Cup fixtures, Warriors showed little to no signs of rust as they burst out the traps.
Cox rumbled over early doors before England winger Thompson raced in under the posts. Siobhan McCarthy then dotted down in the 19th minute to go 19-0 up.
The bonus-point was wrapped up when Cox grabbed her second of the day and with the final play of the first-half, Buckland Hurry scored a fifth try of what was proving to be a brilliant afternoon for the hosts.
DMP sharks have picked up two wins in their last five in the league having lost their previous 28 in a row and were on for another big defeat when Thompson scored her second and Lowri Norkett set up Meg Varley as the score reached 41-0.
Scrum-half Mattinson sniped her way over for the final try for the hosts before the away side's efforts were rewarded with a late try.
