GLAMORGAN wrapped up a dominant 10-wicket win over Worcestershire early on day three of the County Championship match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
The hosts took the remaining three wickets of Worcestershire's second innings inside the opening hour of the morning session and needed just 20 overs to find the 80 runs required to complete the win.
Edward Byrom's rapid half-century (51*) and 30 not-out from captain David Lloyd saw the hosts over the line in comfortable fashion, with almost two days to spare.
A tricky day on day two for Worcestershire saw them start day three 195/7, leading by 46 runs, with Matthew Waite leading the rescue mission.
Any hope of a remarkable turnaround were ended within a couple of minutes of the start as Waite dragged onto his own stumps to depart for a resilient 45, the highest score from any of The Pears' players.
Glamorgan were now licking their lips as the tailenders came to the crease, and Josh Tongue lasted 20 deliveries before he became Timm van der Gugten's fifth wicket of the innings, caught at backward point for 5.
Joe Leach threw caution to the wind and hit Jamie McIlroy for a big six but after adding 24 runs to the score, he was bowled by James Harris and Worcestershire were all out for 227.
But the lead was a mere 79 runs and it was now a case of how long would it take for Glamorgan to reach the total, rather than if.
In the end, Glamorgan only required 20 overs to reach their total as the opening pair of Lloyd and Byrom produced the neccessary runs. 36 of Byrom's 51 runs came via boundaries as he found the rope nine times as he reached his half-century off just 55 deliveries.
Worcestershire were put out of their misery and picked up their second defeat of the season.
