WORCESTER City continue to stutter towards the end of the season and defensive errors are starting to grate on manager Chris Cornes.
City threw away a 1-0 lead late in the game on Saturday at home to Studley in a low-quality Midland Football League Premier draw. The hosts lead 1-0 until the 83rd minute when Studley's Emmanuel Olaloko equalised with a scrappy goal that left Cornes feeling frustrated.
"A draw was probably a fair result. I thought we had two or three good chances and the keeper made a couple of saves, as did Haydn (Whitcombe), but I didn't think either side did enough to win the game," he said at full-time on Saturday.
"There wasn't much good football played, but I don't think we can grumble about the draw.
"Brendon (Bunn, Studley keeper) was brilliant, he made some really good saves. We made some changes for the second half and that gave us the impetus and we started to play better football.
"But it still wasn't enough for me. These players are playing for their futures and not many come out of the game with much credit."
Recent weeks have seen City concede some rather calamitous goals and generally, they have not looked comfortable at the back for large spells of games.
They have leaked 14 goals in their last seven league matches after keeping four clean sheets in five towards the start of the year.
It is a problem for Cornes and is something he will be keen to address going into next season. But for now, he is challenging his team to do better in order to be included in his squad going forward.
"The goal we concede (In Studley draw) is poor. It's not good enough defensively on our part. I am struggling for words really but it summed us up defensively at times this year, we haven't been at the races at times," he added.
"We have got to move on and the players have got to start turning it on because they have five games left to get back in the eye line of the managers and earn their place."
City are back in action this Saturday at Claines Lane when they welcome promotion-chasing Highgate United.
Highgate are eight points off second-placed Lye Town in the MFL Premier with two games in hand and must win on Saturday to keep themselves in the hunt with eight games left in their season.
