THE opening game of Worcestershire's pre-season in Bristol has been cancelled following recent the recent rainfall.
Worcestershire were due to take on Gloucestershire in two T20 matches at Bristol on Monday March 20 but after the recent deluge of rain, the pitch is not going to recover and so the decision was made to scrap the contests.
Worcestershire will be hoping for better fortunes with the elements later in the week.
They are scheduled to play Oxford UCCE in the Parks in a three-day fixture beginning on Wednesday, March 22.
A two-day encounter with Northamptonshire at the County Ground, Northampton, is also planned to begin on Thursday, March 23.
It is hoped the two games will allow the opportunity for the entire squad to get in some valuable time out in the middle before the LV=Insurance County Championship season begins on April 6.
Alan Richardson's men take on Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground in the curtain raiser before another away day at Durham follows the weekend after.
Worcestershire's first home game of the season at New Road will be against Gloucestershire on Thursday April 20.
