RGS Worcester produced a strong second-half display to beat King's School Worcester in the annual Challenge Cup at Sixways on Wednesday.

A healthy crowd watched on from the home of Worcester Warriors in what was the sixth edition of the Challenge Cup between the two rival schools.

The game got off to an exciting start with the teams battling to retain possession of the ball on the fast surface but neither were able to find the all-important goal.

The commitment from both teams was total and both goalkeepers pulled off saves to keep their teams in the game. As the game reached half time the match remained deadlocked at 0-0.

The RGS team started the second half strongly and after 52 minutes had two quick-fire attempts on goal and as their momentum built, they took the lead in the 75th minute through a goal from Harvey Shaw.

With the goal deadlock broken, RGS continued to press forward and a free kick 25 yards from goal narrowly went over the bar.

As the game ticked down and King's started to get desperate, RGS secured victory as Charlie Williams wrapped up the win in the final minutes, much to the delight of the supporters in attendance.

The Captain of the RGS team, Kobe Chikosi, after a superb individual performance in defence, was delighted to receive the Challenge Cup and celebrate with his team.

Head of Football at RGS, Mr Gary Leeds, said: "Well done to both teams for providing such an entertaining match. With a strong defence and attacking strikers, I was delighted by how the RGS team showed real determination, skill and sportsmanship on the pitch.

"Thank you to parents and staff members who have supported the RGS Football team this season."
