WORCESTER City will welcome talented Walsall forward Marvellous Onabirekhanlen back to Claines Lane this week ahead of the MFL Premier match with Shifnal Town.

The striker joined City on a successful month-long loan back in November alongside fellow Walsall youngster Dan Baldwin and he will now join up with Chris Cornes on another work experience deal.

Following an injury to striker Dylan Hart, Onabirekhanlen will most likely go straight into the squad for Tuesday's game with promotion chasing Shifnal, who are just two points off the top two.

"I am absolutely delighted to have Marvellous back," said boss Cornes.

"With a couple of players carrying knocks at the moment and goals not being at a premium, it’s a big boost all around.

"I’d like to thank Mike Flynn, Matt Sadler and Rob Williams from Walsall for agreeing to the loan deal."

Cornes' side have stuttered in the last week or so after going on a run of three consecutive victories.

Having beaten Market Drayton Town, Bewdley Town and Tividale, City followed that up with a defeat to relegation rivals Wolverhampton Casuals and a 0-0 draw with Lichfield City last Saturday.

They now lie just a single point above the relegation zone with 12 games left to play in the 2022/23 campaign.

And it looks set to be a tricky five days for Worcester, who have another big challenge in Darlaston Town at the weekend; a side who are one point off second placed Racing Club Warwick.

City have been a little lacking in the goal department of late and so the signing of Onabirekhanlen should help them on that front.

In defence, Cornes will have centre-half Jordan Stoddart back at his disposal after his three match ban came to an end.

The former Bewdley Town and Worcester Raiders man was sent off in the 1-0 win at Bewdley Town in January and will no doubt return to the starting eleven against Shifnal.
