Fresh details of a bid for Worcester Warriors have emerged.

The Worcester News understands a ‘silent’ group has made a bid for the club with the intention of creating a board of trustees that will have effective control of the club.

This would see the trustees made responsible for protecting the club, ensuring it is not subject to the whims of a single owner.

Among the names understood to have been approached as trustees are Bob Low, leader of the supporter's group, and Jo Yapp, director of rugby for the Women's team.

Such a structure would effectively give control to the community.

Warriors have been in administration since the end of September 2022 and until now the future of the club has been in doubt.

Administrator Begbies Traynor told the Worcester News that an update was expected this week.

It is thought that there are at least three or four bids, including that of the aforementioned ‘silent’ group.

Previously, the Jim O’Toole and James Sandford led consortium, Worcester Warriors Rugby Club Limited, had been considered preferred bidders.

However the RFU rejected their proposal, forcing Begbies to listen to new and improved offers.

The deadline for those bids closed over two weeks ago, with no updates from Begbies since.

With the club having been relegated to The Championship for the 2023/24 campaign as a result of going into administration, the club are seemingly running out of time to apply to compete in next season's edition.

The original deadline of December 12 has long gone, but the RFU did state that they would be flexible on that date for both Worcester and Wasps, given their situations.

But time is ticking, with just eight months to go before the 2023/24 season starts and Worcester still without any staff or players.
