Worcester Warriors Women produced a stunning second-half comeback to record a bonus-point victory at Sixways over Loughborough Lightning on Saturday.
Lightning stormed out of the blocks early on in the game and found themselves 14-0 up after just 16 minutes thanks to tries from Bo Westcombe-Evans and Chloe Rollie, with Helen Nelson converting both.
Abigail Kershaw crossed to get Warriors on the scoreboard but Bryony Field responded shortly after to give the visitors a healthy half-time lead.
But Worcester roared back with 21 unanswered points to pick up a vital win in the Allianz Premier 15s.
Winger Paige Farries scored with just under half an hour to play to give Warriors hope but when Florence Long’s scored in the 61st minute, the hosts found themselves 21-19 up.
It was nervy final quarter but Vicky Laflin’s lovely try following a gorgeous chip from Ffion Lewis gave them the breathing space they needed to wrap up the win.
Their fourth win of the 2022/23 season moves Warriors back into fifth position in the table, just three points off the top four and an unlikely play-off place.
But with half the games still to play, there is still so much to play for.
