WORCESTERSHIRE batter Jack Haynes marked his England Lions debut in style as hit an unbeaten half-century on day one of their warm-up match with the Sri Lanka Board X1 in Colombo.
Haynes - who scored 64* off 70 balls at number seven - shared in a seventh-wicket stand of 79 with keeper Jamie Smith (50) and was still at the crease when the declaration came at 413-8.
Five England players passed 50 runs on the day with Alex Lees (103) the pick of the bunch. Josh Bohannon (58) and Tom Abell (57) also scored well in the first innings.
Former Malvern College student Haynes is one of two Worcestershire players in the squad for the two match test series with Sri Lanka 'A', alongside teammate Josh Tongue, who was not involved.
Sri Lanka Board XI eventually closed the day on 93-2 off 19.5 overs.
