WORCESTER Warriors Women have been unsuccessful with their application to be part of the Allianz Premier 15s league for next season.
Ahead of their league clash with Wasps on Saturday, the club have spoke of their 'disappointment' at the decision taken by the RFU.
On Friday, the RFU announced the eight teams that have been selected as part of the tender process and offered a place in the 2023/24 competition, but Worcester were not one of them.
Instead, a trio of new teams; Ealing Trailfinders Women, Leicester Tigers and Loughborough Lightning/Northampton Saints have replaced the likes of Sale Sharks, Wasps and Warriors.
Josh Payne, Director of Operations at Worcester Warriors Women, said: "While we are disappointed with the decision not to offer Worcester Warriors Women an initial place in the Allianz Premier 15s lineup for 23/24, we are firmly committed to finding a route forward with the RFU and securing one of the remaining two positions in the competition next season.
"Over the past few months, the support that the club has galvanised from sponsors, supporters and the entire community has been incredible. With their backing, the club and players remain focused on the games in hand and ensuring top-flight rugby continues at Sixways throughout this season and in the future."
The Allianz Premier 15s remains a 10-team league and so there is still room for two more clubs to be introduced ahead of next season via an application route.
