NEW Worcestershire signing Adam Hose enjoyed an impressive Big Bash League debut on Wednesday.
Hose produced an explosive knock on his first appearance in the competition to help Adelaide Strikers to a 51-run home success over Sydney Sixers.
The Worcestershire batter smashed 40 off just 22 balls batting at number four as the Strikers amassed 184-6 after electing to bat.
It was the sort of hitting that Rapids fans will be looking forward to watching in next summer’s Vitality Blast.
Hose came to the wicket at 97-2 in the 12th over and added 53 in 5.1 overs with Matthew Short, who top-scored with 84.
He took a liking to the bowling of Rapids 2021 Blast signing, Ben Dwarshuis, striking him for a flat six over deep backward square and then another with a scoop shot.
Hose also collected successive boundaries in the penultimate over from Hayden Kerr.
He had a strike rate of 181.81 when he was lbw to a yorker from Sean Abbott to the final ball of the innings.
The Sixers were never in contention after losing two wickets in the space of three balls to Henry Thornton (4-20) with only 11 runs on the board before Rashid Khan’s 3-21 from four overs, and they closed on 133-7.
Hose has also registered for the 2023 Pakistan Super League draft, which takes place on Sunday, December 18.
He e is one of 29 foreign players in the ‘Diamond’ category for the eighth season of the competition, which runs from February 9 to March 19.
Other players in the ‘Diamond’ group include Jason Roy, Ollie Pope, Will Jacks, Craig Overton, Luke Wood, Carlos Brathwaite, David Wiese, Imran Tahir and Olly Stone.
