ALVECHURCH will be hoping lightning strikes twice this weekend when they continue their incredible FA Cup journey at League Two side Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
Having dumped Rovers' local rivals Cheltenham out of the cup in round one, non-league Alvechurch will arrive at the New Lawn confident of producing some more cup magic.
They will once again be backed by a massive travelling support from the Worcestershire village, with just over 1200 packing out the away end, as they did so brilliantly at Cheltenham in round one.
Striker Danny Waldron was the hero that day, scoring twice in the 2-1 win, and there is no reason in his mind why they cannot repeat that famous win.
"On our day, we are a good team and we have earned the respect of others after beating Cheltenham from four leaves above ourselves," he said.
"Forest Green are in the same league as Cheltenham so there is no reason we cannot perform another upset.
"They'll be big favourites but we will see what we can do Saturday."
The ingredients are certainly there for an upset.
Rovers sit rock bottom of League One having taken just 14 points from their 19 league games so far in the 2022/23 campaign.
They have managed just three wins in those matches and were dumped out of the Papa John's Trophy in mid-week to fierce rivals Cheltenham via a penalty shootout.
But they did come through their first round game against non-league South Shields unscathed, which should give them the confidence to avoid an upset.
