IT was a good weekend for Worcestershire clubs in the Hellenic League last weekend as Malvern Town, Pershore Town and Worcester Raiders all registering big wins to keep their promotion hopes very much alive.
Malvern thrashed Mangotsfield United 7-2 at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium to make up for losing their first game of the Hellenic League Premier season in mid-week.
Seven players were on the scoresheet for the hosts as Dave Reynolds, Bobbie Dale and an own-goal gave the Hillsiders a 3-1 lead at the break, with Mangotsfield’s Jadyn Crosbie pulling one back right on the stroke of half-time.
Issac Flynn scored a second for the visitors but Malvern rallied and Joe Bates, Jake Cavens, Sam Judge and Lewis Spurrier netted to seal three points to keep them in second place in the table.
Raiders kept themselves in touch with those at the top as they thumped Shrivenham 5-0.
Louis Monaghan scored two and there were also goals for Jamie Sauntson, Harry Stratford and Jordan Murphy.
As for Pershore, they stay top of Division One thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over promotion hopefuls Clanfield 85.
Josh Willis scored two inside three first-half minutes before Aidan Clark made sure of the win in the second-half.
