WORCESTER City and Pershore Town both reached the first round of the Buildbase FA Vase last weekend after two very different wins.
Sean Brain’s first-half goal was enough to lift some of the gloom at Worcester as they progressed into the first round proper after a narrow win over Lichfield City.
In exceptionally different circumstances, Pershore scored EIGHT goals in their thumping 80 win over Bridgnorth Town to reach the main draw of the Vase for the first time in 22 years.
It was not the same story for Worcester Raiders however, as they were dumped out in the second round of qualifying by fellow Hellenic League Premier side Westfields FC by a 2-1 scoreline.
Whilst their search for a manager goes on, City were in desperate need of some positivity at the weekend after their 1-0 mid-week defeat to Stourport Swifts.
That left them second bottom in the Midland Football League Premier with a sixth defeat in eight, but Brain was on hand to hammer home from close range to ensure they stayed in the Vase on Saturday at Claines Lane.
As for The Plums, it was a stunning performance and result.
Striker Aidan Clark scored a first half hat-trick in the victory before goals from Sam Clark, Mark Magee, Scott Hammond, Joshua Willis and James Baldwin completed the rout in the second half.
Both Pershore and City will find out their opponents in the opening round on Monday afternoon at midday.
It was not the same success for Worcester Raiders however, as they were beaten 2-1 by fellow Hellenic League Premier rivals Westfields.
