WHEN the teams with the best two defensive records in the division clash, a goalless draw would be the inevitable conclusion.
And, that was the case at Dales Lane where the champions and their play-off chasing hosts were happy with a point.
The stalemate left both clubs boasting an incredible 46 shut-outs between them in 80 Division One Midlands games and the hosts assured of a top five finish and a semi-final trip to Leamington in the play-offs tomorrow night.
The result was more of a success for the Robins who had to play outfielder Joe Clarke in goal and he proved an excellent choice as two second-half saves extended his side's impressive sequence to just two defeats in 34 matches.
The stand-in was rarely troubled in the first-half when it was Daniel Lennon who had the clearest chance.
The striker, though, could only direct a left-footer wide in the 36th minute after skipping past goalkeeper Tony Breeden.
Craig Mansell headed Rushall's clearest chance wide on the stroke of half-time. After the break, the same player was denied by Clarke who pushed his 56th minute header round a post.
The goalkeeper then turned over Lee Barrow's fiercely struck free-kick but both sides were happy to play out time before Paul West's men were presented with the championship shield by British Gas Southern League director, Steve Batt.
