WORCESTERSHIRE once again had the better of their opponents in their second LVCC Division Two match but were forced to settle for a draw.
Having drew with Warwickshire last week with the rain beating them, rain and bad light on days two and three made it extremely unlikely that a positive result would be achieved against Leicestershire as county cricket returned to New Road for the first time in 10 months and the match petered out to a draw at 5pm.
Worcestershire took just 31 minutes to wrap up the Leicestershire innings this morning.
Kabir Ali took two wickets in one over to remove Ryan Cummins and Nadeem Malik, before Gareth Batty had Garnett Kruger caught by Solanki for six to have the Foxes dismissed for 193 giving the hosts a lead of 107.
It looked like Stephen Moore and Daryl Mitchell were going to quickly pile on the runs for Worcestershire early in their second innings, but then when Cummins had Moore caught at first slip by James Allenby for eight the run rate slowed down.
Solanki put on a 17 before he tried to hit Allenby for six only to find Jacques du Toit with a safe pair of hands on the boundary.
Mitchell was next to go for Worcestershire as he was bowled by Claude Henderson for 37 leaving the New Road side 103-3 and then Ben Smith went for 44.
Moeen Ali (42 not out) and Steven Davies (19no) guided Worcestershire to safety setting the visiting a token target of 282 to win with 37 overs.
Leicestershire never took any risks in their second innings and the match petered out to a draw with the Foxes on 62-1 with Matt Boyce (35 no) and Hylton Ackerman (7 no) - Gareth Andrew having Tom New caught by Ben Smith for 16.
