WORCESTER City Women ended their season with a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Birmingham Athletic.
In a poor game, Paul Hennessey's injury and illness-weakened side fell behind midway through the second-half and were unable to find an equaliser.
Worcester are second in West Midlands Division One South but Birmingham can leapfrog them if they beat champions Hereford Phoenix in their final game.
Captain Vicky Andrews, who had to leave the field at half-time with a broken toe, said: "It was such a terrible game and neither side created chances.
"If we do finish third, we've only ourselves to blame. I am glad the season has finished because we have had a really tough season with injuries. I've never known it so bad.
"I think we all need a rest now and next season we will try and finish top."
