MICHELLE Nixon from Little Malvern is due to begin her Dunlop MINI Challenge with a triple-header at Snetterton on Saturday.

Nixon had success last year in the same championship which is part of the Dunlop Great and British Series and hopes to use her experience to put forward a strong title bid this year in her works MINI Cooper.

She has managed to secure some good sponsorship deals, mainly with parts and bodywork from Mansell Motorsport and will continue to be supported by Parry Signs of Malvern.

Unfortunately, Nixon has only enough funding confirmed to compete at the first round. Entry fees are just over £1,000 per weekend and she is desperate for any local companies or individuals who are interested in helping her.

Nixon said: "It's really tough trying to find sponsors and everyone always assumes it would be easier for me because of my gender, unfortunately it's not always the case and this is why we have so little women racing at high levels.

"I want to go as far as possible but I need some financial backing to do so."
