WORCESTER'S Perdiswell playing fields will once again be the venue as more than 500 female footballers take part in one of the region's largest football tournaments over the weekend of June 7 and 8.
For the third year running, Warndon Villages FC will organise the tournament in conjunction with the Worcestershire FA.
The six-a-side competition takes place over two days and provides a great footballing opportunity for female players of all ages.
On the Saturday, the younger teams play, with competitions for under nines through to under 14s. Then, on the Sunday, under 15s, under 16s and open age group teams take part.
FA coaches will be on hand to offer free coaching sessions to younger girls who want to join in the fun.
Clubs throughout Worcestershire have entered teams and the organisers are also encouraging primary schools to enter teams in the under nine, under 10 and under 11 categories.
Organising committee chairman Andy Maynard said: "The leisure centre, the City Council and the FA are giving us fantastic support. Weather permitting, this should be a terrific festival."
Jenny Birchill, the Worcestershire FA's girls football development officer, added: "This is an excellent opportunity for younger players to enjoy the country's fastest growing female sport."
Entries are still being taken and further information about the tournament can be found by logging on to the Worcestershire FA website, www.wor cestershirefa.com Alternatively, interested players can contact Maynard on 07976-855840, Pete Tomlins on 07792-920753 or Birchill on 01905-827137.
