CALLOW End suffered heartbreak in the final of the Worcestershire FA Sunday Junior Cup, losing an enthralling contest 4-2 after extra time to Victoria Barnt Green at Bromsgrove Rovers' Victoria Ground.
The Worcester League Division One side made a dream start when Mark Watkins scored a diving header in the opening minutes.
However, Victoria equalised when sloppy play from a corner forced the unlucky Graham Crowe to put the ball into his own net on 13 minutes.
Callow End's leading scorer, John Greenwood, restored his side's lead mid-way through the second-half.
Then, as Mark Hobbis' Barnt Green side went in search of an equaliser, they had goalkeeper Mark Rogers to thank for keeping out everything Callow End threw at him.
The Bromsgrove League Division One leaders kept battling away and sent the game into extra-time thanks to Chris Weatherall's neat lob over Callow End keeper David Gray.
In extra-time, it was left-back Weatherall who put the Vic ahead for the first time in the game with another deft chip over the keeper.
As Callow End pressed forward in search of an equaliser, to take the game to penalties, midfielder Adam Davis went on a mazy run before setting up hot-shot Danny Hobbis to swivel and blast the ball into the top corner and seal a memorable victory.
Callow End now finish their league campaign with an away match against FC XI tomorrow and a home clash with Malvern Radar on Sunday.
