WORCESTER full-back Cameron Pimlow was part of the North Midlands Under 20s team that was over-powered 57-10 by Yorkshire in the semi-final of the National Under 20 Championship.

Pimlow did, however, manage to get his name on the scoresheet with a try, while the North Mids' other score was provided by Luctonians winger Charlie Meredith.

North Mids admitted they were underdogs before the game and their assessment proved correct as Yorkshire opened up a 45-5 lead by half-time.

The region salvaged some pride by restricting Yorkshire to two breakaway tries in the second-half, but this was still a sobering result for the Midlands champions.

Meanwhile, Worcestershire and Herefordshire will begin their defence of the North Midlands Championship title against Greater Birmingham at Moseley RFC on May 6.

The Two Counties are seeking to win a third consecutive title in the triangular competition which is contested annually by the three domestic unions - Greater Birmingham, Shropshire and Worcestershire and Herefordshire -that make up the North Midlands RFU.

This season's competition begins on April 29 when Shropshire take on Greater Birmingham at Telford Hornets RFC. The final group match will be at Droitwich on May 13 when Worcestershire and Herefordshire entertain Shropshire.

The top two teams in the group will meet in the final at Stourbridge's Stourton Park on May 20.

All matches are scheduled to kick-off at 7.30pm.
