TODAY is not the day of the Teddy Bears' picnic, no it is when pink balls get their first trial in England.
An MCC XI face Scotland at Lord's in a 50-over match where the new style ball will be used.
The idea is for the new pink ball to replace the white one, which easily becomes discoloured and in international cricket is replaced after 35 overs, some time next year.
The new pink ball, however, is supposed to be easier to see, but somehow the use of pink balls in cricket just doesn't sit right. Just what would Fred Trueman or WG Grace have to say about it - I think it just isn't cricket.
