WORCESTER Warriors are now guaranteed Guinness Premiership survival but they just failed to do it in style when they slipped to a 23-20 defeat to title-chasing Bath at Sixways.
The lead changed hands several times and Warriors looked as if they had snatched victory when Shane Drahm scored a 61st minute coverted try to give the home side a 20-16 lead.
But Bath came storming back and their man-of-match, centre Tom Cheeseman, completed a hat-trick of tries seven minutes later to clinch a thrilling victory.
Earlier, wing Miles Benjamin had scored two tries to keep Warriors in the hunt for another top four scalp.
Worcester City bounced back from some disappointing recent results by winning 1-0 at Leigh RMI in Blue Square North.
The all-important goal came on 21 minutes from the penalty spot. Nick Colley had been brought down in the box and Mark Danks made no mistake with the kick.
Hereford United's hopes of automatic promotion from League Two suffered a setback when they lost 1-0 at home to Peterbrough.
A Dean Keates' header wrapped up the victory for Darren Ferguson's team and also guaranteed Posh their promotion.
Kidderminster Harriers' recent run of success ended when they lost 2-1 at Weymouth in Blue Square Premier.
Simon Russell had given the Aggborough club a 60th minute lead, but Chris Blackburn equalised 11 minutes later and substitute Stuart Douglas snatched victory for the Terras a minute into stoppage time.
