WORCESTER Greenman ace Bob Patrick recorded a fantastic three consecutive wins in the Alan's Tackle Spring Pairs League at Brockamin.
It was a remarkable comeback for the angler who dry- netted in the first round.
A return to form on the bottom lake put Patrick in the driving seat when he drew permanent peg 24 on the dam wall.
With the wind favourable, he cast his waggler set-up across to the opposite island and proceeded to net carp to double figures from the start with his sweetcorn bait until the wind changed mid-match.
That quitened things down to leave him with an excellent match-winning weight of 76-14-0.
Runner-up was Phoenix pole star Alan Baldwin who used his favourite method on the adjacent peg 25. Presenting his meat bait at just six inches below the surface gave Baldwin a run of fish to eight pounds and a final total of 44-12-0.
Venue expert Chris Senter took the top weight from the small pool when he weighed in 34-1-0 from peg seven on corn to beat Richard Oliver's catch of 31-4-0 which came from end peg 40 on the bottom lake.
His net consisted of fish taken on the pole and maggot as well as the swimfeeder.
This year's champions were Baldwin and Senter with 23 points followed some way back by Oliver and Anthony Primaverina on 36. Joint third were Patrick and Rich Brewer along with Chris Summers and John Starkey recording 43 points.
Club star Pete Hughes takes some beating on any venue - a point he proved once again when his Barbourne club tackled a difficult canal between the football ground and Lansdowne Bridge.
Drawn on peg 127, he attacked his swim with yellow maggot and caster offered into the deeper central channel.
With no big fish landed on the day it was left to Hughes to take the winner's purse with a small roach and perch net going 2-14-0.
There was a tie for second place with both Terry Box and Nigel Hobday recording identical weights of 1-7-0.
Box's roach and perch catch came to caster and pinkie in the track on peg 145, while Hobday's weight was made up of two perch and a few small roach, all caught across from peg 125. He was unfortunate to lose a big match-winning perch in the dying minutes of the contest.
Ashley Bosworth took fourth spot, weighing in 1-4-0.
The next Barbourne AC contest is tomorrow on the lower lake at Brockamin.
