BRANSFORD Golf Club's new captains are looking forward to a successful year.
They have all opted for Acorns Children's Hospice as their main charity and are already collecting funds.
Alan McPherson, previously a committee member, has taken on the mantle of club captain.
McPherson follows in the footsteps of David Lumsdon, who was captain in 2007.
The seniors' section, previously captained by Trevor Atkinson, goes from strength-to-strength with a membership of more than 50 and is now headed up by Bill Bowen.
Pauline Wetton has taken over the women's section from Pat Farr and there are both weekday and weekend competitions.
The new club captain hit the first ball of the day and fellow members tried to match his drive.
It continued with a full handicap Stableford contest.
Pete Sheppard drove his ball nearest to the captain's, winning a bottle of whisky.
The winner of the overall competition with 40 points was Simon Gill. Runner-up Stuart Knott managed 38.
Seniors' captain Bowen chose to challenge his predecessor to a team match.
Bowen sent his first ball hurtling through the mist but the opposing team won the day and Atkinson finished nearest to the opening drive.
The women organised a mixed charity stableford competition which was won by Graham Peplow with a score of 38 points. Sheppard was in second with 35.
