COMEBACK king Shane Drahm feared he had played his last game in the Gold n' Blue of Worcester Warriors.

The Aussie fly-half, who is leaving Sixways at the end of the season to join up with Japanese club side Kubota Spears, returned from a brief loan spell with the Cornish All Blacks to orchestrate Worcester's thrilling 22-15 victory at high-flying Sale Sharks.

Having contributed 17 points to the War-riors' tally, man-of-the-match Drahm said: "A couple of weeks ago I was questioning whether I would play for Worcester again, I went out on loan to Launceston to play and had a really good time but I guess it was a reality check.

"It would have been a difficult way to finish my career at Warriors by not playing in the first team and being on the field, I have always enjoyed my time here.

"To play in games like the Sale clash and play like I did makes me really proud."

The former Northampton stand-off paid tribute to the work the Sixways backroom staff have done on the team's defence.

Warriors have now refused to concede a try in their last two Guinness Premiership games and Drahm added: We proved we are a hard team to breakdown. We've always had strong defensive patterns and Clive, Billy and Mike work hard on that.

"If you have got 15 guys out there who are all giving 100 per cent and are up for it you are very hard to break down.

"The weather was really difficult with a gusty wind so kicking was hard but I had one of those days when it all went over and I couldn't be happier about the result and the way I played.' Having impressed in Worcester's first away league win of the campaign, Drahm now hopes to play a big part for the remainder of his Warriors career.

He said: "Hopefully I can keep my form up and work hard to keep my place in the team now.

The guys have been great but to come back in from the wilderness and put on a show like that just makes me really proud.

"I didn't want to finish my career with Warriors on a downer, I wanted to show what I was capable of. But the number one thing is the team, it is not about personal accomplishments but how we are shaping up as a team.

"I want to go out on a high for this club, we now need to keep this up. We all want to build momentum for the club and I want to push up to a mid-table spot.

"We have had a poor start but this win can kick us on, we need to take that momentum on for this season and next year when the club will be welcoming some more fantastic players.

"We have Leicester coming up and we need to pick up where we left off against Sale. It's been a problem for us that we can play like we did against Sale and then the following week we under-perform.

We have to really keep raising the bar now. We have a group of fighters at the club and that spirit is going strong now. With the home support behind us, there is no reason why we can't get a result against Leicester."
