THINGS have been going terribly wrong down at Aggborough in recent weeks and assistant-manager Neil Howarth knows that there is no quick fix.

After crashing to a 2-1 defeat to Histon last weekend, Kidderminster Harriers then tumbled out of the only competition that could provide them with any joy this term - the Setanta Shield.

Following the 3-1 defeat to Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday night, manager Mark Yates kept the players in the dressing room for an hour after the final whistle for clear the air talks.

"One long session after a game can't fix our season but I thought it was a chance for myself, Mark Yates and the players to get a few things off our chests," Howarth said.

"We were trying to assess why the team's heads drop at home when things don't go our way.

"I have been involved in football for 20 years and I have never known players to switch off just because the season has fallen away.

"Perhaps it has happened subconsciously, but I think the players are still trying.

"But I don't think they have recovered from being knocked out of the FA Trophy especially in the manner we did - it has really affected the players."
