RICHARD Dryden is convinced it is only a matter of time before Worcester City hand out a good beating'.

The City boss watched his team destroy Vauxhall Motors on Monday night but only yield Chris Smith's third-minute goal for their efforts.

As they did against Hyde, Worcester created plenty of chances without improving on their goal difference column.

Burscough are next to St George's Lane on Saturday and Dryden reckons a repeat of Monday's performance will see them collect three points.

He said: "We are creating a lot of opportunities and somebody is going to get a good beating soon and I am looking forward to it because the players deserve it.

"We gave someone a good beating this week but it was only 1-0. If we can reproduce what we did on Monday night we should be up for winning the game.

"We want to put in a good performance and see how we compete against them."

The Victoria Park side are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run, which included a 1-0 triumph at Blue Square North leaders Kettering, but the City manager knows his team can cope.

He was impressed with the way his defence dealt with the threat of Vauxhall's highly-rated Paul Taylor and sees no reason why they can't repeat the feat against a Burscough side who beat basement boys Leigh RMI 5-2 on Tuesday.

Dryden has also spoken to Mark Cooper, the current Kettering chief and his immediate superior at Tamworth last year.

He said: "I have been quite critical of the back four but I don't think they could have done anymore against Vauxhall.

"They have got the best player in the league playing for them in Paul Taylor and he didn't get a kick all night. It just goes to prove how we did.

"I would ideally like to keep the same team because they did so well."

However, that appears unlikely with Emeka Nwadike expected to miss out with a hamstring injury.

The midfielder has been struggling in recent games and looks set to be replaced by Gary Walker. Nick Colley is unavailable because he is in Hungary with the England futsal squad.

Dryden said: "I have almost ruled Emeka Nwadike out with his hamstring. You can play with a knock but you can't play with a hamstring problem.

"I don't think he will be fit. When Gary came in against Nuneaton he wasn't fit but he did a good enough job.

"He's got nothing to prove to me but he's got an opportuntiy to get a run in the side."

Burscough won the last meeting between the sides 2-1 back in August, a match engulfed in controversy.

Rapinder Gill was sent off two minutes from time and home substitute Adam Carden saw his 25-yarder chalked off because the full-time whistle was blown as the ball left his boot.
